Yesterday was an interesting day at work. Actually everyday is VERY interesting. Some of you know that I’m ready for a career change. Not because I don’t love the students but education is a joke in the USA. I am currently teaching my students parts of speech and rules of punctuation. Yes, 8th graders!! Why? Only because the State's writing test has changed. Students haven't been learning these things for a few years now. We have done a major disservice to our youth (breaks our the violin with a sad song).

I was feeling some kinda way about the comments made regarding the Chicago Public School (CPS) teachers. Really?! We should just suck it up because we chose a low paying professions?? Clueless individuals making decisions and those comments. I’ve invested in myself beyond what my salary will ever be teaching.

I think back to my first few years of teaching. I would always adopt a child or two or three. Last year I made it a practice to bring breakfast goodies and snacks for kids who would come to class hungry and grouchy because I knew it would be a problem trying to teach them when the belly is rumbling.

All I need to know is who to call to get more involved in this war on what we call education. Our children deserve better than teaching to the test. Please keep all educators in your prayers.

You are all in my prayers! Our educators are some of our most valuable resources and when I say that I DO NOT take you for granted, I mean it. Thank you a thousand times over for being there for our babies.

Yessss! I agree whole-heartedly! I'm a teacher in NC at the high school level and unfortunately it doesn't get better as the students grow up. It gets worse! I would always say if teachers don't have the students' best interest in mind then they should give it up. Education is not the place to be just to collect a paycheck.

Very cute outfit, I love your hairstyle!!!

I am not a teacher but I know some and they complain about the same things. Someone out there doesn't understand how the changes they made are affecting our children. That is one of the reasons my son is home schooled (outside of him being Autistic). I am praying for all teachers (those that actually care) because you all have a hard job and I commend those of you that take it seriously and really take care to really do all you can to help the youth.
