Finally this Floral Skirt makes an appearance

Hope you are having a better day than I am.  I’m wondering if it is just the students at my school or are other educators leaving work exhausted and the school year is less than 7 days from being over?! I have 8th graders and they have completely shut down despite the fact that I am still prepping them with skills, tools to navigate high school which will go by quickly as we all know. Starts to hummmm, “Oh to be a kid again.” So this will be another quick post so I can grab some dinner and head off to prayer before family Bible study at church. Yes I need to pray for myself. NOT KIDDING!
If you follow me on Instagram I posted a photo wearing this skirt for New Years Eve and never broke it out again. It’s all over the blogsphere. I really wanted the pants but was never able to find them. Instead I thrifted these pants and loved them. Sunday my niece celebrated graduating with an IB diploma with the best Jamaican buffet and it was fantastic. I thought this skirt would be perfect for the event. I ended up playing hostess and this look was just what a divamom needed.

Same Blue, Day Two

Happy Memorial Day weekend. A moment of silence for those how have died serving our nation. Always remembered. Always honored.

Yep, I am here posting when I should be wiping sand from places no one wants sand but this morning during my errand run I discovered a screw in my drive rear  tire. Good news is it is plugged until Tuesday. Bad news is I am unable to travel much or far for safety purposes. This rained on my trip to Target parade so I came home and took out the goodies to DC (deep condition for you non natural haired folks) my fro.

About this look...yes it is the same skirt I wore on the last post here. After reading this post from Lexi and being reminded by Eboni on Twitter that style is remixing what you already have in your closet I decided the remaining few days of school I was going to refashion and not make any more purchases except for my trip to Maryland later in the summer.

My students are certain I never wear the same thing for the 180 days we are in school so I had to prove them wrong. Teacher knows best! You will be saying more of this skirt and the other one I purchased like it. They are super comfy and versatile. Not sure what took me so long to buy one or two, lolol. Probably because I do not  like jersey/clingy material so I ruled these out for a very long time. I am so glad I changed my mind. This skirt is everything *swoons*.

Top & skirt: Marshalls
Earrings: Country Dollar (yep everything is $1  thanks Shon)
Shades: Old Navy (paid a $1 for them last summer)
Ring: Forever 21 (gifted from Blogger Christmas exchange)
Bangles: Forever 21 & gifted from my Sister
Watch: Fossil
Clutch: Thrifted
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Weema
Nails: Sally Hansen Blue Me Away

For those of you who are beachside soak up some rays for me. Inhale a plate of barbeque with the perfect sides and a ice cold green bottle with the red star on it (gotta talk in codes for the Saints who may read this) and do not forget the cupcakes.  I am off to continue this conditioning process. By the way, I really want to color my hair/fro/Karrie. Or maybe I will go with the long top and shorts sides to give it some pizzaz. What cha think?

Congratulations to my niece Chevaughn on her high school graduation. She is one beautiful stylish girl inside and out. Watch out world..this girl will do great things..guaranteed..oh the places she will go.

Cute and Casual

Ummm yeah I thought I was cute and casual for a day of working with studious 8th graders! We are almost to June 7th and I've decided to break out the sandals and leave the heels for church and outings to dinner and dancing with friends. This color combo was inspired by some blogger I follow in my blogroll. Or maybe I just saw it pursuing a magazine or the internet. Regardless I think green and blue go well together. I was so excited about the look I posted this on Instagram this morning.

Jacket: GAP (old)
Tank: Old Navy
Skirt: Marshalls
Jesus Sandals: Target (Recent purchase $14!)
Earrings: Francesca's
Bangles: Charming Charlie
Ring: Forever 21

I'm  not going to be long today. I'm at school waiting for my son's final concert to begin. The spring concert is always jammed pack. I got here early. Seat is in the front row and guess what?! The director has asked me to sell old cookie dough (yes OLD) to anyone who will buy what he's pulled from the school's freezer. So with me being so agreeable and such a great band mom, I'm off to man the cookie dough table.

Silly Me!

My nephew graduated from high school this morning and this is what I wore. I am so proud of him. He's more of a son than a nephew with a big heart and appetite but he's as gentle as a teddy bear. I told him I proved my love for him by waking up at 5:15 AM to be at the location before the doors closed at 7:50. Yes I take that long to get dressed because I do a million other things in between. Who else does that?

This outfit has two of my favorite things: pleats and the color red. I wish you could see the pattern in the skirt more. I posted a picture on Instagram. You can find me as deltadivamom and check out the skirt up close and the earrings. I received this skirt for my birthday from one of my favorite bloggers and friend Shay create of Curves and Confidence. She knows I love long skirts and pleats. I hope she'll be pleased with the look. I have another idea in mind with a pop of color so you'll see a fashion remix soon.

I'm off to finish watching Happy Feet 2 with the kid. Yeah we are kinda already in summer break mode. We still have 11 more days of school but I took a 5 hour nap (yes a nap) today after dinner with the graduate and the family.

It is Friday yet?!? I'm really ready for the weekend even though I have something planned all weekend. Good thing is we have 14 days of school left and I can exhale and relax. Funny thing is as soon as we're out on summer break I won't have a problem staying up late, hanging out and sipping good wine. Until that those days have passed I'll try to dress as cute as possible (:

This look was inspired by my good friend and fellow blogger CurveeBeauty. She knows I'm a maxi dress/skirt lover so when I saw this post two days ago I immediately texted her and told her I'd made similar purchase. The skirt is convertible and can be worn as a dress but since I have a sever lack in the breasts department I'm gravitating more towards skirts.

The fabric is so comfy like pajamas. I could wear this skirt all the time if it were a solid color. Then you wouldn't know I was repeating so much and I'd get a lot of mileage out of my wardrobe. Not sure why orange/coral has shown up on the blog weekly but it's a great summer color. I'll try to mix it up next week, lolol.

Twice is Nice

Hope everyone had the most fantastic Mother’s Day. I did! My son is going to make a great husband. He treated me to a trip to Target after church on Sunday and kept my wine glass topped off while I chilled reading magazines.

I’m still waiting on my homemade card. I questioned him about it today and he stated he did everything else for me all day which was enough. Kids! Gotta love them.

I won’t be long with this post. You’ve seen this dress before. It’s really old. I wore it on Mother’s Day last year here. Believe it or not I haven’t worn the dress since that day. Yeah, I do that sometimes. This time around I wore it to work with a different pair of shoes and earrings. Short, simple and still stylish.

Check out how much Karrie (my hair) has grown. This week will mark 6 months I’ve been growing out the brush cut. I posted an updated picture of the actual length stretched on Instagram. Find me: deltadivamom.

Sending you much love & many blessings!

Print Explosion

Mixing prints has been going strong in the blogsphere for quite some time. I've always wanted to try the trend but never felt comfortable doing so. Fast forward to the now hot printed pants trend and I was captivated. H & M came out with these floral print trousers which I went on the hunt for and never located. Everyone who was someone on my blog radar owned the pants but I wasn't fortunate enough to get my hands on a pair.

Instead of being defeated I decided to do what frugal fashionistas do. I headed to my local Goodwill and found these printed pants for a couple of bucks. I received a ton of compliments at work. Truth is I wasn't sure about the look until midday. Students all over the campus were coming up to me saying they liked my outfit. My co-workers pumped me up by telling me only I could pull the look off at work and not look clownish.

At the end of the day I was happy with my creation. One of my favorite bloggers tweeted me recently and reminded me that all the fun is in remixing my wardrobe (thanks @FashionNextDoor). She's right because my closet has zero room for anything more. I would like to purchase some new maxi dresses but only if I can sell the ones I have now. And I NEED a few pairs of sandals. LOLOL!

I know y'all laughing at me right now and rolling your eyes while calling me a shop-a-holic under your breath. Right? In that case, pray that I finish grad school so I can become all that I can be and make a decent salary to support my shopping habit or I can marry rich. I am so not kidding!!!!!! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I see Blogger has gotten it together and revised the commenting section so I can reply to each individual post. I will certainly respond to your comment so don't hesitate to leave me a pleasantry.

Giveaway coming soon :)

Orange Crush

Hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday. After seeing some of the photos on of celebrities at the Kentucky Derby and reading Facebook status updates about the hats the ladies were crushing on I HAD to post these photos.

I wore this ensemble to the Sorority’s hat tea. I felt very First Lady-ish. Believe it or not I am so not a fan of hats. It took me two days to find this one.  Now I’m convinced I should marry a Prince and wear hats on special occasions.

Can we also note how great my arms look? I haven’t worked out in a month and look forward to getting back on my game but these photos really show off the improvements since I started attending aerobics at my church. Goes to show exercise is for anyone. My former mindset was I’m already slim and I don’t need to workout. Once I started I noticed a difference in how I felt throughout the day and the toning of my body. Y’all know I love the beach so I gotta be tight and right. Summer break is less than 25 days away!!

I’m off to eat before heading off to church. We are having our annual spring conference this week. Alive 2012 featuring some dynamic guest speakers. You can tune in online at

I'm Back to Blogging with a BIG Heart!

Happy Sunday to you! Yes I am officially back to blogging.  I have certainly missed the blogging community but can assure you I was away working on a project that will allow me to continue to make a difference in my community in a larger scale.

A week ago today I became a member of the illustrious sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. It was a goal I set many years ago and can now cross off my list. I look forward to meeting more of my sisters as I continue to blog, Tweet and share additional photos on Instagram so be sure to follow me in either of those places.

I can not tell you how appreciative I am of coming back to find that you all did not give up on this little ole blog that I love so very much. If it were not for you I would be here alone. Oh how boring that would be.

I saw this look all over the web and could not wait to recreate it. I have another idea for this very old skirt so you may see it again this week for work. Today I was a church divamom. My Bishop noticed my BIG heart and one of our associate Pastors had me model my shoes for his fabulous wife.

This look was fun but not too youthful. South Florida gets really hot and I will not be trying to rock a suit to church so I can pass out from a heat stroke instead of the anointing, lolol..not kidding!

The pop of color took the look from boring black and white I am attending a memorial service to sassy. I kept the accessories simple and added a prop today. KT and I get an icee from the corner store every weekend. Our little treat! Wishing you a wonderful work week. See you back here this week.
